ORIGIN OF THE AVATAR
Thousands of years ago there was an ancient force of evil spawned from the darkest depths of the Spirit World that threatened our own. Divided into four nations, the art of bending energy forgotten, and masters of only one element each, the people could not cope against it. The spirits, knowing humanity needed a common bond to tie them together as well as to themselves in the Spirit World, created the Avatar Spirit. The first Avatar was not born, but created through the spirits energybending an individual worthy of the gift and capable of handling the great responsibility he faced. He learned from each nation and rallied the people of the world to stand together. When finally face to face with the great evil, he defeated it using everything he had learned from the four nations as well as the Spirit World. From then on, his knowledge would be passed down to future Avatars whose responsibility it would be to protect the world and keep it in balance.
